#16 - Greatness...

"Greatness will not find you, it will grow out of you."

Tuesday, July 18, 2006

Gabbing on:
"Greatness will not grow from just anything.
It demands the rich soil of paradox, pain, passion and purpose.
It demands your secrets, your fears, your anger and your silence.
It demands consistency of desire, persistence of faith and the courage to be authentic against the tide of consensus.

It will claim from you humility, commitment and creativity.
It will raise you up and dash you against your dream, only to crush your limited expectations before releasing you to soar.
Greatness will promise you nothing but grant you all things, when you choose to ignore it and not seek it out.

It will only manifest itself to you through the eyes, deeds and actions of others in response to you.

So is greatness within us yet beyond us."

Very well said. I really like this one a lot. I spent some time with it before responding as I love the feel of it.

For me, greatness is in all of us, and although it's there for us to claim, it's not ours to name.

Thanks for this thought!

Hi SLP, I love your quote in response to this post. It is so right on: "...greatness is in all of us...it's there for us to claim, it's not ours to name." You got it right. I've always believed that others will know our greatness before we do and that is why we can become great - by not focusing on it. Kind of makes the journey somewhat less distracting and stressful.
